Our Evidence Standard
We treat nutrition as part of team operations: useful when it improves access and planning, never a guaranteed shortcut to results.
An independent, practical point of view
Jungle Puzzle Whistl is an independent information site about food and performance routines for professional gaming teams. We write for players, team managers, coaches and support staff who need practical ways to think through a demanding schedule. Our focus is routine infrastructure: food availability, hydration access, travel contingencies, staff roles and evidence quality.
Professional gaming teams are not identical. Game formats, event calendars, budgets, facilities, cultures and personal needs vary. We therefore avoid publishing a single universal menu, drink target or supplement routine. We describe questions teams can ask and processes they can adapt, while directing individual clinical questions to appropriately qualified professionals.
How we handle evidence
We distinguish three ideas: established general guidance; evidence from adjacent settings such as sport or public health; and research directly involving esports players or gaming tasks. These categories can overlap, but they should not be presented as equivalent. Where direct evidence is limited, we say so. We do not infer that a plausible mechanism proves a competitive effect, or that a result from a laboratory measure predicts tournament outcomes.
Our reference approach prioritises consensus statements, peer-reviewed research, professional organisations and public authorities. Relevant entities include the International Olympic Committee, British Dietetic Association, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, European Food Safety Authority, NHS, PubMed and official travel and food-safety sources. A link is a starting point for further reading, not an endorsement of every interpretation or commercial product.
What we do not do
- We do not diagnose, treat or provide personalised clinical care.
- We do not promise improved reaction time, rank, focus or tournament results.
- We do not treat a sponsor claim, testimonial or product label as proof.
- We do not assume players share identical bodies, preferences or circumstances.
Editorial corrections and questions
We welcome specific corrections, source suggestions and questions from team operations staff. Contact details are available on the Contact page.
